Luke 23:34

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

There is a study that was once conducted that “unforgiveness” is one of the causes of sickness. Many people who find themselves stucked in pain of being hurt by others was emotionally stress. Like everytime he saw the man he is angry at, he tends to think badly and has the tendencies to urge for a fight and find to control that emotion and this affects him physically and mentally. By the time a man cannot get over his stressor, there are times that it eventually come to a point that he will have a behavioral disorder like having an Intermittent Explosive Disorder.

Forgiving is helping ones self to move on and enjoy life.

When people hurt us, we should learn to look at what people have done to themselves instead of just looking at what they have done to us. Usually, when a person hurts someone else, he’s probably hurting himself at least as much and is suffering some fallout as a result. That’s why, as He hung on the cross in agony, Jesus said of His murderers, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’
