2 Samuel 24:24

But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them.

Insight:

Real Giving occurs when I give somebody a thing that I want to keep or is important to me. It is easier to give something that you have used before than giving a brand new ones.

There are times that God asks you to give away something you like. But when we consider how He gave His only Son for us because of His love for us, this will remind us and encourage us to give too… to have a sacrificial giving.

The simple truth is this: We must give to be happy, and giving is not true giving if it doesn’t cost us something.
